Friend of mine killed this yesterday here in SETX. Bout as rare as they get in this neck of the woods
We initially thought it was a greenwing in there but after looking at it more it was determined to be bluewing. (Excuses my spelling i was alittle excited still while typing that lol)

I'd say gwt x cinni. Beautiful bird, gonna look sharp on the wall.
Thats what I originally thought to but after a good close look at it, its Cinnamon x Bluewing.

Even though the head resembles a greenwing, its the blueish color of a bluewing. Also, it has a speckled body like a blue whereas a green would only have the speckles on its chest. And one last major indication is the wing. Wings are a key feature in ID'ing hybrids...even though this is a hybrid, theres no indication of it on the wings because bluewing and cinnamon have exact same wing..

Google is wrong on that one....Im 10000% positive on bluewing.... maybe one of the "experts " on here will give their opinion on it.
You cant pick one physical feature and make a call off that. Think of it like this, if you were to cut its head off, whst would if be? Because its body sure as hell doesn't have the slightest resemblance of a greenwing.

Does it matter for two birds to be in the same genus in order to hybridize? Cinnamons and bwt are both in the genus spatula, same as shovelers. Whereas gwt are in Anas along with mallards and true teal. I know mallards and gadwalls hybridize into a Brewer's duck and they aren't in the same genus, but I guess they used to be until they split gadwalls and wigeon off into mareca a few years ago. If that all matters than I would say bwt x cinnamon hybrid. Regardless its amazing bird.

I dont think it matters, if you look far enough through this forum for a topic called "waterfowlers wall" its a post with a bunch of pics of hybrid ducks. All kinds of crazy stuff cross breeding
