CWA Weekend Waterfowl Camp @ Rancho Esquon - May 16-18, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had this camp filled but 3 youths just cancelled this week so there are spots open for this. Last chance for any youths to get hunter ed certificate prior to big-game drawing deadlines in California.

California Waterfowl Association is holding a Weekend Waterfowl hunter camp at Rancho Esquon in Durham, CA on May 16-18, 2008. The third annual waterfowl hunter camp will ensure youth's get their hunter safety certificate just before submitting for big-game draws this year.

Kids get dropped off on Friday night at 6 pm and picked up at 3 pm on Sunday. During the weekend, we'll cover hunter safety material, shoot shotguns, rifles and bows, do conservation work including egg salvage, wood duck boxes and release banded ducks (from egg salvage) into the wildlife area and much more.

All meals, lodging and materials are included for $150 and each camper goes home with over $100 worth of hunting and shooting supplies. It's really a great time!

To sign-up, call 916-648-1406, flyer (see Rancho Esquon Flyer) to CWA.

The event is sponsored in part by Rancho Esquon, Paradise Gun Club, Cabela's and Chico Sportsman's Den.

My son Matt (11) just got back from Rancho Esquon and has not stopped talking about how much fun he had and how much he learned.

Kudos to George Oberstadt and his volunteers who made this camp an experience Matt will never forget. And a huge thanks to CWA, Rancho Esquon, Chico Sportsmans Den and Paradise Gun Club and volunteers who helped make this event possible!

For those of you who have kids who will be needing their Hunter's Safety Training...be sure to check this program out and register early! http://www.calwaterfowl.org/web2/huntin ... nter_camps

Good report!

Congrats to Matt.

Anyone that has a kid that wants to get their hunter ed completed - and where learning is fun - should definitely attend one of these events.!

My boy has not been able to stop talking about going hunting since he got back. However, I had to confiscate the duck call until the season begins. He discovered a way to make my pup go nuts inside the house.

Great camp.
