I started rigging up some new avian x decoys with Texas rigs tonight and saw that the keels have holes on both the front and rear of the keel. What's your preference and does it even matter? Do they swim differently?

Depends on conditions.
Normally, ducks on the water face every direction.
If there's a stiff wind, however, very few will be floating with their butts to the wind....and even then, not for very long.
I usually rig two or three of every dozen on the rear hole. If it's windy, I just take a half-hitch around the front of the keel so they ride into the wind.
