Tupalo is also a god wood. Can be a little expensive. Runs around $6.50/board foot. I prefer the tupalo form Louisiana. It is lighter than the Carolina stuff.

ive always used white cedar to make my working decoys with and if you paint em, which you have to do, itll hold up very well since the tree grows in a swamp. just to give you an idea, im hunting over decoys my grandfather made over 20 years ago and im makin em out the same exact wood he used. it was cut at the same time he made his and ive been hunting over the ones i made for four years now. wood dekes hold up wayyyyyyyyyyy better than plastics.
