i got a dog a couple of months ago a black lab chessie mix, hes really steady, he will fetch but he dosent like to bring it back right away. after about 5-6 times he will start to bring it back. just wondering if aney one can help to get him to do it right away.

Sounds like you're giving him the option to not bring it back. Also sounds like you need to reaffirm the come/here command. You need to put him on a check cord so you can snap the rope and reel him in. Remember, you're in control of the training.

He needs to remain on the check cord until he brings it back on his own each time. Put him on the cord and only do 3-4 retrieves...keep it fun. You can do it along a fence to encourage him to come back.

The key is the check cord...you need to show him you're in control. Do not throw a retrieve again unless he's on that cord and you can reel him in. That includes anyone else in your family...no "fun" tennis balls, no bones, etc. He needs to be on the cord anytime he retrieves or while you're working on the come/here command.

I agree with Mike,Use a Checkcord at all times and work on the "here" command..
