i just optained a 8 week old black lad puppy and its already starting to stink up my house with all the piss that he does while i am at school. Is there anyway that i can get ride of the smell and help train the dog to wait till i come home and let him out to use the bathroom? any advice would help thanks!

Not entirely true. They will not "go" where they sleep if the place they sleep is small. Example: I have a mini Daschund. When I got her I kenneled her during the day and every day I would come home and have to clean out the kennel, and her. You see, even the smallest dog kennel if to big for a 8 week old mini-daschund. She actually fit in the palm of my hand when I brought her home.

If you kennel, buy a kennel that will fit your pooch when it is full grown, then be smart... block off most of it and let the pup grow into it. That way it will get used to having a small area to be in, and will not "go" in their sleeping area.

When I get my lab, hopefully after duck season, I plan to crate her and attempt to train her myself. This forum will thankfully provide a lot of good info.

Definately crate the little buggar and use vinegar to clean up messes. The vinegar smell will go away faster than the pee smell. You can also use it in a carpet cleaning machine instead of chemical cleaners to get the smells and stains out.

Thanks for the advice. I do keep him in a kennel. I tried to make him learn "place" on the bed that is in his kennel when i took it out but as soon as i told him to sit on the bed he pissed all over it.

I was also wondering if scolding him this early when he does something like that is not the right thing to do.

The crate is not fool proof for accidents, but it is the best approach. Just don't use a nice bed in it yet. Use something that can be pitched in the washer on a regular basis, like everyday.
