I've got a 12' fiberglass duck boat that I'm trying to shed a few pounds from. I have ripped out the 5/8" plywood flooring and am trying to find some sort of polyethelene or plastic materrial that I can use instead. I only need one sheet if it's plywood size (4x8). I've looked on the net but can't find anything at all. Any ideas?

You may want to look into the rubber mats they use in pickup beds.

I made mine out of .80 aluminum and used the Dupli-Color do-it-yourself roll on bedliner. I would highly recommend that you do not use the roll on bed liner. It scratches off very easily.

Thanks for posting the pics Ol' Yeller. Nice set-up ya got. I'll try to post a couple of pics of mine as well. Aluminum wouldn't work I don't think. This fiberglass boat has two 2x4's glassed in along the bottom of the hull, and the florring rests on those. I think aluminum would be too flimsy around the edges since there's no support. But then again the poly plywood like material that I am seeing in my head may be too flimsy as well.

since the boat is fiberglass...how about luan with fiberglass over it....maybe have to go up to 6 oz weaved cloth, but it would be solid....of course depending upon the ribs....or add ribs out of 1x2's

if you think there is ever a lack of support under the aluminum flooring, use some construction foam, it comes in a variety of thickness. Good Luck

If using the foam, use the 250 grade VS the 150 grade-- 250 is much denser so it can handle weight better.

Plastic sheeting is not strong enough value wise, by the time you get it strong enough it'll weigh as much as plywood and cost alot more. Alum sheeting with added ribs or foam under it with a 1/8" thick rubber floor mats on top of it. If useing foam, make sure you have a channel down the middle for water to run out the drain hole.

Thanks for the input! I think the aluminum with foam underneath is what I'm gonna do. I was hoping to have it done by now, but work sorta flared up and haven't had a chance yet. Thanks again
