New the forum and duck hunting in Eastern Washington. My in-laws have property on the Columbia River near the BeeBee Bridge. Wondering if anyone has experience hunting from shore in this area?

Thank you very much in advance for any insight your willing to share.

Above or below the bridge? Can be a hit or miss show. Late in the year can be OK, need cold weather up north to push the birds down. It never happened last year, did the year before. There are a lot of geese in the area but they are picky where they want to be.

Thanks. Our property is just south of the bridge. We have a boat and access to the river North or South.... just curious of the hunting is good and what is an appropriate strategy.

Have not hunted the area this year. The scouting trips I did make only showed geese. Two years ago, late January hunted pretty good. Only divers and geese north of the bridge. Deeper water there. A few shallower areas south of the bridge with divers and widgeon. Is your property on the Chelan or Douglas side of the river? I usually launch at the PUD park on the Chelan side. Had some guys in a boat blind sitting just below the boat launch last year that shot birds.

We are just south of the PUD park on the Chelan side of the river. Obviously the county does not care if we are shooting from shore?

I recommend heading up river near Brewster. The water is slower up there and the ducks like to rest in that part of the river when the migration is on. Saw a raft of literally 10,000 coots last weekend. We were able to get a 6 man limit of cans, blue bills and other divers. Weather plays a big factor tho. If it's calm the birds aren't moving and raft up out in the middle. If there's weather, you can have a great day! Good luck.
