I'm new to this forum, and would appreciate any wisdom that can be offered. I came across a couple of shotguns the other day, belonging to an old shipyard worker that lives across the street from me. He doesn't have any idea of their worth and neither do I. They are in great condition and don't look like they have been used at all. Most of the print on the guns is in Italian and I don't speak the language. All I can tell is the manufacturer is Fausti, a brand I'm not familiar with. Both guns are identical over\unders and have beautiful dark wood stocks and engraving on the action and forearm. Any information on not only the value, but quality and performance of the guns would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Faustis from what I've heard are pretty good guns, and are reliable, at the gunshops, the most expensive fausti I've seen was $599

Doesn't look like you getting many responses. I have 2, a SxS 12 ga. and a 28ga OU With an extra set of 410 bbls. I have not had any problems with either one. I've shot over a 1000 rounds through the 28 without a hitch. Well made guns for the money.

saw a Fausti OU at Walmart today...$499

certainly not a Ruger or Browning....but looks to be solid and a good handling waterfowl piece you won't have to worry about

A decent O/U shotgun for the price. I paid $499 for mine at Walmart a few years ago. Solid, robust and definately worth the money.

The current Fausti Stefano's are imported by Traditions Firearms. Fausti also has a website I saw a while back. I think they've been in the business since the 60's if my memory serves me correctly.

If the shotgun is written in Italian, it was probably before Traditions starting importing them (thats a guess).......

fausti has been around since 1948. It sounds like you have a matched pair and because the engraving is in Italian it sounds like maybe these guns were made before traditions started importing them. You might try writing to faustistefanoarms.com and getting more info.

thats what i was thinking also. my friend also has the one from walmart. it is a nice gun and works well. worth the money. they make a few different models and the price can go up. i remember in guns and ammo they had a feild hunter 2 that was like700 but was nice.

Don't own one myself, but a buddy of mine has a Waterfowler II and it craped out on him from shooting magnum steel loads-it is now a single shot :getdown:

Thats right Duckboy it did crap out on me and it is a single shot but just remember it shoots 2 sheels faster than that Beretta :toofunny:
