No pictures, but I've been slamming the 8/9 inch bluegills for a week now, and we all know which fish you'd rather eat. A 2 lb. bass, a 40+ lb. king, or a 8 inch bluegill. I choose the gills! :thumbsup: Don't think I'm not jealous though. I'd love to be in Alaska right now fighting those Salmon 
issed: Nice fish guys! The best part of spring fishing is seeing those fully plummed Ducks in all their breeding colors. Had a hen and drake Bluewing Teal take a few fly-by's while I was out in the boat yesterday. Looks like fishing will be on hold for a while here, because a cold front moved in yesterday while I was fishing. I got drenched by the rain and to top it all off, while I was pulling my boat on the trailer I slipped off the walkway on the trailer and fell off and the momentum of the boet knocked me off my feet and I fell in up to my neck. :toofunny: Of course I immediately looked around to make sure no one saw me make an ass of myself, but unfortunately there was a fella looking right at me. At first he asked if I needed a hand, and when I replied no, (speaking as loud as I could with my testis about frozen off) he proceeded to give a nice chuckle. All in all it was pretty funny. Of course my cell phone and wallet was in my pocket! :laughing: That's fishing! Pete

no doubt about it, bream are the best pan-fish there is! i don't know about up there, but...if you get into a bed of them here, you have to watch out cause the limit of 30 will be on you in a heartbeat and you'll be culling double-palm'ers.

nice pics 98. are those salmon or cut throat? i sometimes have a problem distinguishing between the 2.
btw, y'all make fun of my little bass. i'll see if i can't dig up a couple pics of the 65lb and 80lb yellow-fin tuna i caught 2 years ago. you talk about a fighting fish. i have never in my life been so worn out after dealing with those bruisers!

Shrp, those are actually fall run kings. Cut throat are just a subbreed of trout. Thats a nice small mouth, you need to have them take the picture closer next time so it doesnt look small!

Shrp - a little trick i learned is that if you extend your arms out towards the camera it changes the "scale" of the fish in relation to your body and makes it look alot bigger. lol... j/k. that's a nice bass.
Pete - gottal love them bluegill. oz for oz you won't find a better fighting fish.
as for salmon...you boys can keep them big ol' bred out river fish. i'll get mine fresh from the ocean. here is a couple of 20-25lb Cohos (silvers).

You're exactly right Gills are the most fightenist fish there is. If they made a ten pound Bluegill you'd need 20 pound test and a support belt to bring one in. I heard that the Dorado is pretty tough to bring in because they are all fin like the Bluegill. Forgot to mention that Monday we (ten of us) went after trophy Walleye off a Lake Winebago river system (Wolf River). Caught two keepers, a 28 and 1/2 and a 31 incher. 11 and 12 pounds. Got on Lake link and there was a 16 and 1/2 pound Walleye caught that night 36 and 1/2 inches. Also caught that night a 54 inch 40 pound Musky as well. I caught about 20 Walleyes, with the biggest being 26 inches. 14 straight hours of casting can take it's toll. I felt pretty old after that one. Nice fish all! :thumbsup: Pete

nice lookin' sturgeon Duck. we get a few of them around here too. can olny keep 5 per year though.
Pete - i miss puttin the hurt on 'gills with an ultra-lite spinning rig. back when i lived in arizona..if the bass fishing in the colorado was slow you could always count on the bluegills to occupy your time. (and my little secret...i liked catching them little buggers a lot more.)

you think the ultra-light action is good? you should try them on light action fly gear. i'll use a little popper or even several different types of dry flies on top of the water and them destroy them. it's great practice for trout fisherman like myself who don't have immediate access to trout waters.Swamp Puppy said:
