Anybody use flags for ducks to draw attention? I know sea duck hunters use em sometimes but I've never heard of puddle hunters or diver hunters using them. Anyone ever give it a try?

When I was just a little fella I used to go out duck hunting with my great grandfathers and great uncles. My one great grandfather used to have a magic hanky that would make ducks materalize out of the sky. Pop would pull this white hanky out of his bib overalls and wave it over his head and it would draw birds like they were on a rope.

I have continued to use this trick on trading ducks and it works well.

Well, I wasn't quite looking for a "magic hanky". I've got a 19"x19" black flag I use for flagging geese and I was thinking that at a distance it might get a glance or two and maybe make em come take a closer look. But thanks for the hanky trick tip, in desperate times I might be trying it out.

Good ? I have been wondering the same thing. I hunt alot of times in flooded timber and wondered if it would work there. I have taken one of my extenstion fiberglass crappie poles and put a flag that i made on it. I thought that i might use it to get birds attention at least ,ie, flapping it all the way down and even making a big splash into the water. I figure it might get them to make a closer look.....hell i dont know thats why i come to these sites too......GET EM CLOSE AND KILL EM ALL
