First ... let me say ... THANKS for the forum ... GREAT Place to Learn ...

Question .... We live in central Oregon and we bought a 30 acre rock quarry with a 18 acre quarry hole spring fed and full of water ... its 45 feet at its deepest ... The shore drops from 0 to 12 feet plus at about 15 feet out from the shore line .... It is made up of small round river rock and dirt mixed in ... water level will vary about 10 feet up and down winter and summer ...

The divers use it ... and the geese spend the night .... but no puddle ducks ... I am sure it is because of no food along the edges for them ... so the go some where else ...

What can I plant along the edges that will grow with out replanting each year ... that will make the pond a puddle duck paradise ??????

1st picture is before it filled with water ...

THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For shallow water ... its there ... all around the banks ... 0 to 12 feet before it drops off deep ... and Yes , we have Pintails , Mallards , Widgeons , and Teal .... a few will land , but most just circle a few times and then head off ....

I just walked out into my back yard and snapped the picture of some of the pond ....

I want to THANK everyone for the help ... I am in the process of swallowing up some of the coves for bass spawning areas ... maybe this will bring some ducks in too .....

Yes , right now I am just a resting spot ... 1st pic I just took of the afternoon break from feeding in the fields around us .... wish I liked to shoot geese , but just to easy ...

2nd pic . is what happens to your duck dog when there are very few duck to retrieve ... they become fishing dogs ...
