Hello everyone,
Well I am going to bite the bullet and go for a semi auto this year for ALL hunting and clay pigeons. Swore I would never own another one after my POS Remington 1100, but I have the bug again. Anyone have any dealings with the Franchi 912? Nice looking guns with great fit and finish. Can get the 912 Max 4 camo, with a 28" barrell brand new from the gun shop I frequent for $670 with the hard case and chokes. Having never shot or been around any Franchi's I am just curious what you guys that own them think.
And before anyone suggests other models: I won't own remingtons or winchesters, benelli's and berettas are a little outta my price range, and the Mossberg 935 isn't chambered for 2 3/4" shells.

I don't have a personal report since I have only seen one in the field twice. I did do a search on other forums and will summarize the 30 or so reports I read.

Overall sounds like a great gun. Imported by Benelli, so you know it is a good gun. Many glowing reports.

Had 3 negatives
1. Several guys said their gun didn't have the proper oring shipped with the firearm.
2. A couple guys had trouble with loads under 1 oz.
3. Couple reports dealing with it not cycling shells.

Other than that sounds like a great gun. There will always be a few lemons out there. If you buy one let me know what you think of it. My little brother is looking to get a semi auto this summer. If you want to know what forum so you can check the reports yourself let me know.

I don't own one,but from what I've been hearing, they are good guns. But beware, customer sevice is the worst!!!!! I'd stay with Browning, Winchester or Mossberg

I can vouch for crappy customer service. Those italian made guns are the worst customer service considering how much you pay. The one thing I don't like about them is you have to switch your gas system depending on what you are shooting. Light loads have one setting, then if you need to switch to heavy loads you must remove the forearm and switch you gas system to a different level.

As I stated in an earlier thread, I love my Franchi 912. I have had zero problems with it cycling shells.
I've only two rounds of light loads and it worked fine with those also. The gun is one of the better shooting guns I've owned so far.

I have had the Franchi Raptor 712 for a little over a week and have been on the skeet range with it four days already. I absolutely love it. Zero malfunctions and it has a great feel for me, which is why I purchased it in the first place. I went to a reputable gun shop in my area and they actually recommended it. Came with all the parts, the owner's manual is okay (not great). It's easy to clean and care for.

As far as light loads go, I've fired a lot of 1 oz through it with no problems. The owner's manual does say not to use anything lighter than 1 1/8 oz, so it's kind of a no-brainer that yeah, there might be malfunctions with a very light load.

I've also gotten A LOT of positive comments from the guys at the skeet range about it. It's a pretty new gun on the market, so not a lot of people have seen one yet. It's very, very similar to the Beretta 391.
