Franchi Intensity Double-Loading

I'm new to the forum and have an issue with my Franchi Infinity. When I shoot the first shell, the 2nd and 3rd shells come out of the magazine into the loading port area at the same time and the gun gets jammed. This year I ended up just putting two shells in the gun and had no issues. But you know I'd really like to put three. :)

Thanks for any thoughts on the fix. I just can't seem to find the same issue online (or I am not doing the right search).

The Franchi Affinity and Intensity series are Benelli Super-90 based designs and utilize a relatively simple shell stop latch. If the shell stop latch spring is broken or fatigued, or if the shell stop latch release/catch is out of spec or has a bad spring, double feeds from the magazine tube can occur.

In short, what you are experiencing is a double feed from the mag tube, most likely due to some form of out of spec component. I would have to see it in person to properly diagnose, but those components are your most likely culprits and not difficult to service and or replace.

Now, crimped hull length can also play a role in this malfunction, as the way the shell stop latch works is the cartridge that drops from the magazine tube trips the latch with its rim as it slams to the rear of the lifter, stoping the next cartridge in the magazine tube from feeding. If this does not happen soon enough, the next cartridge will not be stopped and will also partially feed onto the lifter, causing a double feed.

This malfunction can be caused by an underpowered magazine spring, but can be fairly reliably induced with cartridges that are under 2-1/2” in length when crimped.

Are you experiencing the double-feed with all cartridge lengths? Or is it only happening with 2-3/4” or shorter hulls? This will help narrow down the problem and assign a fix.

If you don’t want to have to chase the ghost on it, contact Benelli/Franchi customer service and I’m sure they will help you out.
