Nothing wrong with a canoe IF you know what you are doing. I dont blame you Dukbum, for being worried as it sounds like the canoe was overloaded. dogs and canoes are a bad mix, in my opinion.
I was brought up canoeing, and still do pretty much year round. Dad has also been canoing for 40 years, and has never flipped one on accident, even over hundreds of late season duck hunts. All it takes is some basic canoeing skills, knowledge of the water, and good judgement. I personally think they are a great tool. Every year we shoot everything from woodies and teal to whistlers and buffleheads on the bigger water.
Safety first fellas, but as I said, with good judgement, and some canoeing skills a canoe can be used successfully in a variety of conditions. With that said, some people just cannot handle canoes, cant balance right, and are disasters waiting to happen. They are the accidents you hear about.
