Sent the year out with fishing, and brought in the new year with fishing.


Didn't catch anything on the 31st, but started the year with a pike thru the ice.

I haven’t been ice fishing for 12 years. My boy has been asking to go for a few years. Last year we never had great ice. Tuned up the auger and went out New Year’s Day. We didn’t catch fish but we had fun getting out. Old passion is now our new hobby.

I think we had first ice and last ice in the same week in southern MI. Ended up tweaking my shoulder Christmas Eve and missed the entire season Talked to some guys that made it out. Most lakes had 5” right after Christmas and were open water by New Years.

Brother said 18” last weekend on our lake. Shocked after that heavy snow.

Eastern SD is 16-18+. In my corner we got 1-2’ of snow last weekend. North of hwy 14 didn’t get any snow. I’m on a mission to get my kid his first fish through a hole this year. I couldn’t be busier at work

We got a slushy mess in the UP, but that’s normal…. Hopefully the big lake freezes in the next few weeks

On gull over new years it was prob 12-16.

5 of frozen slush and the rest good ice

Found slush after this last snow while out skiing this morning and confirmed when walking/running the dog.

But also saw a truck in the middle

This is a good year to take off from ice fishing - still have yet to punch a hole and wet a line. I do miss the fresh fish, hopefully i can sneak out before ice out.

Same here… with these temps the big lake isn’t gonna freeze unfortunately so I’ll just be focusing on getting the sugar bush set for tapping in 8 weeks
