My GHG snaplock dekes are in fine condition and haven't had any problems since they arrived at my doorstep. Assembling the snaplocks to the dekes were as easy as tying my shoes. I highly doubt any 12 yr old Chinese children had anything to do with the production of your dekes. Do you really need to put the blame on being "made in China?" I am all for "made in U.S.A." My made in USA products have failed me more times than once and the quality of some other things lying around the house made is USA, I would imagine a mentally retarded person was involded with the production. But that's besides the point. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with GHG.

what do you concider fine condition? How many times have you used them? How many times a year do you hunt? Do you hunt 40-50 times a year?

I am glad you have had better luck with your decoys, but I am guessing the guys who have good luck with them don't use them as much as others who have problems with them. I think theres a reason you don't see guides running these things....

"Fine condition", they still look practically new. They've been battered like a good-for-nothing drunk's wife. I hunt a minimum of 3 days per week and that is all season long. GHG aren't the only decoys I own I would rate the GHG #3 on my top 10 decoys. #1 blackwater. #2 G&H. #3 GHG Atleast on my deoy list, that's all I have experience with and what I own. Believe me, they've been through extremely harsh conditions and elements. I'm satisfied with mine. I own a Ford Excursion and my wife is blonde. Maybe yours is a Chevy and she's a brunette? Who knows...whatever works for Jonny doesn't mean it works for Jimmy.

dodge and a brunette...

Dont get me wrong duckydoo, I didn't mean to say you don't hunt. I have had great luck with my hotbuys and will continue to use them. Another guy I hunt with (fishnranger) had a few crack on him the first hunt. I think maybe GHG decoys just aren't very consistant.

Aw don't even worry about it ram...I'm not mad at cha. I would be upset if I had to go through what you did with my dekes and would boycott the company the same. I expect to get what I pay for just like every other man. My blackwater cork dekes will always remain #1 on my list. Get some blackwater dekes if you can cuz they are definitely worth the money. I inherited 6 dozen blackwater cork duck dekes when Grandfather passed (2 doz pins . 3 doz mallards and a doz widgies) The pintails are just absolutely remarkable. I'v had many guys attempt to jump shoot my pintail dekes.

Well nobody has actually shot at them to date. Just attempted to jumpshoot them. Ie., stalking them and creeping closer to their postion for a shot(s). That all ceased when I made my person visible and stepped out of the blind/boat or if I tell (my dog) Killer to get em'. He wouldn't harm a flea but he'll start barkin when I tell him to get em'.

If you're a sportsman who likes something a bit more dramatic in the embellishment of your decoys, consider Blackwater dekes. :hammering:

Dude i know what the problem is with your GHG decoys!!! I bought a dozen widgeon decoys and thought i had the same problem as you. but if you look under the decoy (it says all this in the directions if u cared to look) but there is a line that the keel only goes up too. It is not to the very end of the line!!! so ya, next time read the directions...
GHG decoys are awesome if u know how to use them...

My friend just got some from Cabela's, standards noted as "new" and the ad said they had a guaranteed finish. They went together fine and look great. We had one that was a little sticky with the keel, but it only took a little more force. We worked one over to see if the paint was as good as they said and it was all that. The best decoy I have ever looked at for the $. I wonder if they just had some quality issues for a while. Are any of the ones you all have had problems with the standard mallards noted as new in the current cabela's catalogue?

Anyway, these seem fine. We hunt everything and have to spread the $ over all kinds of hunting so $ matter. I am sure that if I only hunted waterfowl I would go for the G&H, but I need a new bow, arrows, turkey call, fishing rod, tree stand, rifle scope.............................MORE AMMO!

I hear all your points. The GHG's I own were easy to assemble so no complaints yet....as I have not taken them out (I bought them on sale after the season). No doubt, a poorly made deke will cost you more in the long run, however some of use aren't so lucky as to have money for much else. being a a full time college student who works for a non-profit (read: they pay me in peanuts) I'm happy to pay 50% off a set of GHG's (there is probably all of the aformentioned reasons behind thier price)....maybe I can convince myself that repainting them would be fun? Is there something could try to get the paint to stay? (say a soft clear coat, or elmers glue ;) ?)

Very discusted to hear the paint comes off the GHG decoys I got suckered into that hot buys mallards erlier this season to break up my black duck spread a little. I did have a rough time putting on the keels, and even the damn warning label in the box says avoid removing keels. They are a good looking decoy, but sorry to hear they aint durable. I do like your attitude though Ramtough it matches mine well. MY black decoys and sea duck decoys are corks from LL bean. They been used since 1972 and still going strong salt water, ice, and all. Best looking and durable decoys I have ever used . Pricey as all hell but, back then I knew an employee and got a good discount. Now they are about 45$ a piece , way too much I think , but they do last

ramtough, I got half a dozen of those woodies for Christmas and had problems getting the keels in as well. I did get them all the way in after a lot of smacking, but ripped one of the plugs off of the end of the keel spilling sand all over my living room.

I will no longer by Avery products. The only reason I have the woodies is because they were a gift from my dad. I have had it out with some of the big dogs on their website and am completely blown away with how they talk to their customers. I flat out told the president that I would no longer buy any of their products as long as it put money in his pocket. Taunting customers publically (or privately) is not the way to run a business. They'll eventually figure this out or go out of business.
