I hunt in rice fields in Arkansas and this is the fourth bad year I have had in a row. I have a small farm with a pit on it that I have hunted for years. But the last few years have been terrible. I have another spot that I can hunt now and have been toying with an idea. I have heard that you can habituate ducks by baiting the same spot for 4 or 5 years. Obviously I would not hunt the areas when they are baited. I am thinking about baiting my pit for the next 5 years and seeing if it gets better after that. Has anyone here got any experience with doing this? There are ducks in the area, but with the numbers down, it is getting harder and harder to get them to come in to me. They love the fields directly to my west and south!

If your feeding causes "area of influence" issues for your neighbors, they might burn you out...

Strikes me as a really bad idea and likely waste of time and money, as well. But if you're determined to try imprinting birds with feed, I think you'd be ahead in all regards to wait until the season's over.
