often times whether on this forum or in discussion with others i just assume that we are talking about the same ducks. then i'll get reminded by a comment, reference, etc. that is not the case. curiosity has gotten the better of me so i listed all of the differenct species of ducks i have been fortunate enough to harvest. (which isn't near as many as i originally though) so what types of ducks has everyone harvested?

personally:

ducks:
mallards
pintails
greenwing teal
canvasbacks
buffleheads
goldeneyes
bluebills
shoveler
scoters

geese:
canada
snow

Puddlers:

American Widgeon
Eurasian Widgeon (one)
GW Teal
Pintail
Gadwall

Divers:

Canvasback
Shoveler (spooney)
Bluebills
Ringneck
Bufflehead
Hooded merg
Goldeneye

might be one or two more that i am forgetting, but all the important ones are in there..and most of the ones that were unlucky enough to fly by me on a sloooow bluebird day.

still on the "hit list" are Woodducks (we have them...still haven't had a shot at one though), Redhead, and a Harlequin (sea duck).

The most common ducks we harvest around these parts are Mallards, Woodducks, BWT, and GWT., but I have harvested a large number of ducks, just not the numbers.

Ringnecks
Goldeneyes
Buffleheads
Lesser Scaup
Redheads
Canvasbacks
Ruddy Ducks
Hooded Mergansers
Common Mergansers
Red Breasted Mergansers
Shovelers
American Widgeon
Gadwall
Pintails
Black Ducks
Mottled Ducks
Surf Scoters
White-winged Scoters
Common Eiders (Atlantic)
Old Squaws
and all types of Canada Geese

In addition To having shot these birds, I have Taxidermied all of these birds for my personal collection, (hens and drakes) with exception to the Redhead, Common Merganser, and Surf Scoter due to lack of plummage. I have not mounted a drake Bluewing Teal, but have a hen on the wall.

I also have shot a canvasback, goldeneye, common merganser, hooded merganser, but in previous years.

I think that is about it. Might be one I am missing. I really want to hunt some of those beautiful fast moving sea ducks one day.

You boys are hard-core, I have questions though and that's to the Atlantic-Pacific flyway hunters. Are you seeing and shooting any Brant? If so how are you doing each season? are your numbers improving, staying the same,or declining?
