Hi All,
Is anyone familiar with the Hasting Barrel Company attachment called the Metro? Looking for someone who has shot or seen the attachment being fired. If you consider this "thing" non-sporting, (I only harvest what goes on the table) or if you are offended please disregard the message.

I've heard of them, they are supposed to reduce muzzle blast to the point that nearby residents don't hear the shotguns.Hence the name "metro",you can hunt in suburban fields(where legal) and not stir up the locals.
There was an article in one of my mags I get, maybe it was Wildfowl or American hunter, about the Metro.I'll see if I can find it.

Yes Fraz.

Like Dogman said, they are desighned/inteded for use near populated areas.

They are to be used w/ subsonic ammo (which reduces noice by slowing down the speed of the shot)

The system will help restore some of the balistics by allowing the shot to speed back up...... (thats the way I understand it)

They are supposed to work pretty good, but unless you are in one of those areas, it really has no good use.

Yes, Wildfowl Magazine and I do live in one of those areas with a nuisance geese population. The residents often give permission to hunt their property but the "tree hugging tourists" tend to complain if someone wears camouflage and/or hears a shotgun blast. The residents are hopeful I will bust a few geese and that will run the remainder off to another feeding area- it works for a while. The tourists refuse to heed the warnings about feeding waterfowl and continue to feed popcorn, bread and more to keep these beggar geese around the Town Park and populated areas. Our town crews have to go out and fire a couple of birdbombs at the flocks of geese in the park every morning so they can use the big goose poop vacuum and clean up. Most of the geese are not afraid of humans, have become brave and are very greedy. My operation is similar to turkey hunting.

Years ago, I had a pigeon and crow problem in Texas. They flew in and tried pushing my horses away from their feed buckets to get the grain. They were extremely predictable, which was their downfall. I obtained a Marlin Model 55 Goose Gun; 36" bolt action shotgun and fires 2 3/4" Dove/Quail Load. It was not all that loud (at least to the shooter) and very accurate.
