Well, I used to run about 3.5 dozen. 2 dozen mallards, 1 dozen pintail, and 1/2 dozen teal. Now I'm ditching those flambeaus and going with 1 dozen GHG LIFESIZE Mallards, and 1/2 dozen GHG LIFESIZE Gadwalls.
I may throw in one of my old pintail drakes outside the spread for some visibility. But other than that, the flambeaus are turning to field decoys.

i take 4 dozen with me...though my buddies usually bring along another 2-3 dozen apeice. it's not unusual for us to have over 100 dekes out.

Typical hunt is 7.5 dozen. We have both of our big cabelas decoy bags crammed full. Can be a pain to pack in but it is well worth it. If I hunt by myself 3.5-4 dozen. Mostly G&H and Hotbuys. Wont buy any more lifesizes. Looking for a couple more dozen G&H to bring it up to ten dozen. Maybe even some more hotbuys if the price is right. Stay away from the lifesize GHG unless you feel like repainting halfway through the season.

I PUT OUT THE BEST NUMBER OF DECOYS NECESSARY DEPENDING UPON THE HUNTING PRESSURE, TIME OF YEAR/MIGRATION, LOCATION ETC. I HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS WITH LARGE SETS AS WELL AS SMALL AND THIS GOES FOR PUDDLERS AS WELL AS CANADAS.........so, to answer the question........I can put out over 6 dozen of geese or ducks....but rarely do

I usally have 4 dozen mallards and 1 dozen teal and then about 3 dozen cans. I want to add 1 dozen Gadwal and about anouther 2 dozen or so cans and maby a dozen Pintail.

When I hunt the bay, I use about 3 doz divers mostly bluebills mixed with a few redheads, and about a doz pintails, and another doz mallards. When I hunt the lake I usually use a doz mallards and a doz bluebills. When I hunt the river, I use 6-12 mallards. So it really depends on where I hunt.

Early on, I use 3-5 mallard dekes. Later, after the birds bunch up, I use a dozen, give or take. I gotta walk in, and, I hunt small impoundments. When I go with friends on open water, we use everything we got...6-8 dozen :thumbsup: Y'all have a nice day! :yes: :yes: :yes:

In the beginning of the season we'll set out 14 doz. or so. After a couple of weeks we get down to around 8 doz. and the later part of the season we'll get up to around 10-12 doz. All decoys are magnum and super mags. We hunt big water most of the time and the numbers/size do make a difference.

Depends where we are hunting. In my boat blind we normally use about 1/2 of our 200 super mags when in a pothole. We will use them all if we are in open water or in heavy competition. We also team up with another boat blind sometimes and put out about 400. I we hunt in fixed spots, we hunt over 700 deeks and 300 jugs.

The amt. of decoys we put out varies widely, can be anywhere from 6 dekes to 4 dozen.

In my area guy's leave their decoys out all season long, (all permenant blinds) and use from 500 to 1000. The club I belong to restrics you to 40 dozen.
