I free fed my puppy until they were about 16 weeks old, then I started measuring it out. At 8 weeks make sure they always have food and water for them.

Vitamins can be a touchy subject with people, you will get many different answers, its like asking "What food should I feed?" Everyone will tell you something different.

I agree with everything you said boykin, except to follow guidelines. I would look at them just to give you an idea, but when its super cold, my dog may eat 8 cups a day if I am working him hard. If I fed him 3-4 cups when its 10 degrees out and hunted him all day, I think I would be able to see his ribs and he has a thick chessie coat on him.

Stay away from foods that have corn in the ingrediants. Corn makes about 3x the piles of crap to pick up in your yard and your dog doesnt get anything from it.

All that said, pups are easy, make sure they always have water and keep a food bowl full for the first couple months.
