How Old do Wild Birds Get?

Here's a story about a fairly old bird: ... tain.bird/

Of course, no one was shooting at it during its migrations.

Just another reason why to let hens pass...they can live a LONG time. I believe I read somewhere that older hens are more successful at nesting also.

A hen that shot is one that will not only nest following year...but also the year after that...and the year after that....etc....

I'm not trying to start a debate on shooting hens. I shoot the occasional one myself and wouldn't ever look down on anyone for taking a legal bird. It's just something to think about...
