Hello Fellow Waterfowlers,

I know y'all get a lot of these threads and I'm sorry guys. Try and give this Texan a little slack

I will be visiting Alaska next season most likely in October-November. My brother in-law will be moving to Anchorage to work at Conoco Phillips. I have done some research with different guides that are offered, but it seems like going out to the islands or cold bay is most of what they offer. Valdez looks like one of the closest places I could get to. Most of these guides offer weekly packages and I know I will not be able to pull that off in the time I am allowed. I also noticed that, there might be some hunting around the flats outside of Anchorage.

I am looking to do a little hunting, but preferable something that would take 2 days tops. I would love to pull off a harlequin hunt, but I am not sure that is possible with my time frame and location. Either way, I would like to be in God's country and hunt while I am there. Do y'all know of any guides that might be closer to Anchorage or that offer shorter hunts in Valdez/(somewhere that offers sea ducks)? Also, how easy is it to get to Valdez?

Thank you for your help

Thanks Frozen Okie

Yea, just getting a head start on the guide service scouting. All I am seeing is a ferry ride to Valdez. Says it's only a 4 hour trip with some driving and the ferry. I'm sure there is a road a little north of that I could drive, but I'm not exactly sure what my vehicle situation will be while in town.

My brother-in-law will be up there in August and he will be doing some asking around, but he's not a hunter and I don't know how much I could trust his information. Thats why I turned to you guys.
