My yellow like to hump other dogs and little kids. I hate it, although it is funny when he gets ahold of the anoying neighbor kid. Anyway, I need to fix this problem fairly quick. What the heck do I need to do.. I have tried everything I know. hes not mean when he does it or when you get him off of the dog or the kid. Its just embarsing.

I've seen dogs that have had their fellas cut from the time they were pups and they still hump things: toys, legs, etc. I've even seen an old female dauchsaun (sp) humping things. I think alot of the time it is a display of dominance.

My 1 year old female (fixed) still LOVES to hump her cousin when she visits. I think it annoys my brother sometimes BUT I can't help laughing.
She wont touch people or other dogs just her cousin so I assume (as suggested in a previous post) that it is a dominance thing.

That's no lab, that is a Mississippi Leg Hound. I bet no one wears shorts around your house.

Talk to the vet. Clipping them can help. And aren't we a sick group that we get such pleasure from this.

I know that gittn rid of his "fellas" has the great potential for relieving you of this problem... But consider that he may also go thru a dramatic personality change.

My best friend's (DuffMaN) collie did the same thing. Before they got him fixed, he was the most energetic, go-git-er, frisky-est little fella ya ever met.
Now, he is one of the most mellow, yet very loving, sweet, and loyal.

Just something to think about.

Many times a dog "humps" to show dominance. It is not normally a sexually motivated action. If he;/she is humping other people, installing a little more disciplined action around others may help. Make the dog sit quietly by your side or place him on a spot or rug.

I work for a vet, and have owned my fair share of dogs off all varieties over the years. Cutting his fellas off now is not going to change his humping, it is a trait that has already set in. However, with that said, you can prevent the onset of other problems with the dog by having him neutered. It will reduce the risk of prostate problems, including cancer. You remove the possibility of testicular cancer, these are just the top two problems that can occur leaving an older dog intact.
As to solving the humping problem, you have to take the source away. Pen him up or tie him up, whenever the annoying kids come around.
I have male and female dogs that were spayed/neutered years ago, and they still hump one another, that is just a dominance thing.
