An Alberta hunter has disgusted both his fellow outdoorsmen and consevationists by saying he won't kill a grizzly bear this spring if someone meets his price on EBay.
"He's holding a bears life for ransome," said Bob Semchuk, president of the Calgary Fish and Game Association. "It's really quite shocking. Someone who would do something like that would be totaly disgraced among hunters with integrity."
A man from Edson, Alta. has listed his spring bear hunting licence - oe of 73 issued by the province - on the online auction site under the title Grizzly Bear: Save a Life. The entry says the lister will destroy his nontransferable tag and mail it to the successful bidder, thus preventing a bear's death.
Dave Ealey, a spokesman for Alberta Sustainable Resources, said the man isn't doing anything illegal - assuming he truly does have a tag.
"It is illegal to sell or transfer a tag, but if this person is choosing not to go out and use the licence, that's his choice," Ealely said.
EBay officals did not return phone calls.

Almost sounds like an other scam by one of the anti hunting groups to put hunters in a bad light and drum up some finaces at the same time.

I have a 2004 Wisconsin Patron's license. It entitled the bearer to hunt all small game, (including duck) Bow hunt deer, gun hunt deer, and fish for all wisconsin species, (including trout and salmon) I will rip up my 2004 hunting and fishing license and send it to the highest bidder. By buying this 2004 license from me I will not be able harvest any game this season legally. Maybe I will make enough to buy a 2005 license, so I am legal! :salude: Pete-bay's opening bid starts at $140!

Yep, I knew it! That SAVE TOBY the rabbit was just the start of it. Have you guys seen these friggen nuts? They want something like $50,000 or they will kill and eat Toby LIVE on their website! They've collected around $25,000! They have videos and live feeds of Toby hopping around and playing with these nuts! Too bad being stupid isn't a crime! I'd never come home from work!

The anti's did promise that they were going to turn up the heat. Appears that they've begun - even if in an half a$$ed fashion. Wasting a bear tag or doing something sensational like the save Toby spectacle will probably be only the tip of the iceberg, I fear. The worst may be yet to come.

If I am not promised to be paid 1 Million dollars in the next 5 minutes, this beer in my hand will meet its demise by being consumed by me. HA HA HA HA (more evil laughter). Too late, I just couldn't help myself. :toofunny: Seriously though, this whole situation is seriously F'ed up. I am sure that there were hundreds of people who didn't that tag who would love nothing more to hang that SOB up by his toes and beat him with a rubber hose. There should be some clause in the game laws to prevent BS like that. :pissed:

you got that right! in az they have some of the best elk hunting in the us. everyone suspects that the antis put in then throw away the tags they get.i also heard of tags getting "lost" at the post office, then showing up after the season or never at all. seems alot of antis work at the post office.

That sounds like a great idea, because that is just pocket change to me. I can buy it then get my pilot to fly me out there. These a-holes need to be stopped. :pissed:

this is one of the reasons i can't stand the "tag" system. i think you should have to qualify by some means to even apply. if the anti's had to jump through a bunch of hoops like outdoorsmen do with everything else, maybe it wounldn't be worth the trouble to them. from what i understand, you can submit online applications for these tags now.
