I was in the Niacam area 10/1 to 10/6 and the snows were everywhere. Hunted ducks solo over water and shot limits. Had marsh all to myself. All Pintails one day, mallards the next. Welcome change from hunting public in Kansas with all the "company".

When we left on the 5th, it was terrible. More hunters and less birds than ever before from the guys I visited with who had been going north for years. It was nothing like my trip last fall where birds were easy. We only harvested about 120 snows in 2 weeks of chasing them hard. My guess is migration was stalled by the stable weather conditions and relative warmth.
It was warmer last fall. It was in the 70s at the end of october.

Yeah I realize it was warmer in October but if I'm not mistaken there was some early storms in August/September that pushed snows down? From my friends still up north, they're saying the snows are just now starting to roll in thick.
A gal at work husbands hunted in sask 10 days ago. They shot 360 in four days for 6 guys. Another friend said his uncle nailed them a week ago. Its location period every year but the snows are there. They arent always in the same locations each year.

From what ive seen from some guides sites the peek already happened. They seem to be getting less snows each day. Its cold and snowing in churchill so if geese are left they are leaving.

By a limit of pintails do you mean you shot four? That's the daily limit this season in SK

Yes I shot 4 pintails. That's mostly all that was flying that day so I was done rather mistaking a pintail for an early plumage duck of another species. Wasn't there for the limit any way. They sell meat in the grocery store, LOL.

If you are wondering why you are seeing more hunters in these areas its because you guys keep posting where you are going and telling EVERYONE who freelances where to go.. If you think you aren't you are mistaken..Stop posting where you go and just say you went to Saskatchewan etc not naming individual towns etc..

You are causing you're own issues by naming the towns and telling everyone to freelance instead of booking hunts..

Don

You can thank sites like this, facebook and guys wanting to brag for the over crowding.. Posts like this only add hundreds of more wanna bees to the mix...... No problem with pics but take them on the tailgate and no need to mention the city or town you were in when you hunted..

Don't complain if you are one of the guys feeding the masses info.. Believe me the internet is not a secret..

Internet did this to a lot of places. People can't keep their mouths shut for some reason.

In 10 years Canada will be like Nodak is now. Overrun with US hunters, that only care about full straps. When I was there in 2013 there wasn't posted ground anywhere. That will change in the future.....
Yep nd is overrun and these guys will look for new places now. Anything for a you tube video and bragging rights.

Last time I was in Nodak was 2011. Had a heck of a time locating landowners to get permission to hunt. Every scrap of ground was posted. The simple fact is that it is just too far to drive (1250 mi ) to be turned down all the time. If I want to hear "no" every place I stop I can just stay in Pa. or Ohio and hear no all day long. I"ll make it back to Sask someday soon but I won't be blabbing about where I am exactly. It's a darn shame about Nodak.....

So think before you post to brag about where you were and all the ducks and geese you shot were taken at or where you hunt.... In an instant hundreds see what is posted and next time I am sitting in your spot dont bitch at me you were the dummy who told me where to go right?
