Last year i hunted the devils lake area around the third week of october and the hunting was alright. I have heard alot of talk about moving further west towards the missouri river but is it worth giving up an area that i already have two weeks of hunting in to hunt somewhere where it might not be any different. Anyone out there got any advice or experience on this?

Due to pressure and weather, what happens in mid to late October is anyone's guess. We normally head up to Saskatchewan at that time of the month due to the lack of birds here in Nodak. The Missouri River doesn't hold many ducks at that time, they stick to the sloughs and you need to get east of the river to get into slough country. Typically, when it starts to get cold find the corn. Corn country starts in the central part of the state expanding south.
