Good thing you posted this - I would have gone the rest of my life thinking 11,500 was just OVER half of 22,000. Guy sounds like a piece of work...wish I could afford the boat though

He'll have that boat for quite some time. Even 17's with 'real' motors and trailer...in excellent condition....are going for that amount or maybe even LESS. It is unfortunate, but TDB's are way overpriced considering competitors' boats. In this instance the motor may be too much for the boat - not sure what it is rated for but I know the 'basic' TDB 14 is rated for up to 15 (2 stroke) - and with no trailer you need to add in at least another $800 just to get it home.

This particular boat is rated for 25hp. When Arthur Armstrong bought TDB they had it re-rated for 40hp. The 25 is juuuuuust enough to get on plane with two guys gear and a balanced load. If the weight is towards the back it won't plane.

there's a better option - although not as close to home....a 17 (boat, 50hp and trailer) and the asking price is $17k.......unfortunately I think he will also have a hard time getting that amount.....17's are going more in the $11K range

thanks for the correction Jim.......I was not aware the seaclass had such a significant increase in power over the classic
