I bought a case of #4, but will buy 2's next time around mostly for any geese that swing by.

Im actually becoming a fan of federal #3s but if I know theres gonna be mallards and canadas Im going with #2s. I actually hate shooting #4s, If the birds are real close in your face Ill just pick up some cheap 2 3/4s in #2.

Why do you hate 4's? Most of the ducks I kill, I shoot them with 4's.

My buddy I hunt with used to hunt over on the eastside and he almost always used #4 for duck but over on this side we only use 3 or bigger, I dont know if its just because we dont get them in super close or if its because most of the hunts we do are pass shooting, I dunno if its a westside eastside thing? Nothing against 4, just not for me

I was debating between 3.5" 2's or 4's this year and then it came to me......3's! So I bought a case of Kent 1625fps. I havent been out too much this year, but i'm shooting the best I ever have. It's seriously hard to miss with these shells!! I wouldn't shoot teal close with em though....

Kent Faststeel #2s for me too. I have used a Mossberg 500 for 10 yrs shooting anything cheap through it. 2 years ago I got a Benelli Nova and have really seen a difference with the type of shells I shoot through it. Blackcloud has been a dissappointment for the price and I hear you need a special choke for it anyway. I finally tried Kent Faststeel this year and the ducks are folding dead. A lot less cripples and I have knock down power at the 40-50 yd shots. Both the 1 1/8 oz 1560FPS and the 1 1/4 oz 1425 have been spot on.

Kent Faststeel 3", #4's, 1/8th load, 1560 FPS. I only buy other stuff if I can't find any more Kents. I was sold on these shells about five or six years ago. One shot at a lone goose that came in over my duck deeks in the fog, 30-35 yards and absolutely unplugged him!!!!! With #4's!!!!! Maybe it is a confidence thing, maybe it's not, but my shooting is remarkably better with them than any other shell on the market, even those nasty blackclouds, (try cleaning your buddies birds when all he has left to shoot is 3" BB from the clouds.......... these birds come "pre-ground" and half ready for sausage!!!)

I dropped my snowgoose yesterday with a kent faststeel 3 1/2" #3, but it was close quarters. If I was really wanting both geese and ducks with one shot, I'd go 3" BB because it seems to pattern the best out of my current chock, has enough knock down for geese, but hasn't mangled any of my ducks yet.

I have had the best year of my career using blackclouds this year. Of all the birds I have taken I only have 2 cripples. As for size and length, I prefer 3 1/2 in shells because of the huge increase in speed of the shot. I don't use a dog yet so I need that extra umph. 2 shot is my prefered size cause I had one of those cripples shooting a big greenhead with 4 shot. Good survey question though nice to see what others prefer.
