You usually have a barrel with thin metal and they have to use the thin wall chokes. Not the best, but it gets the job done. I had one done on an extra barrel I had for an old 870. I didn't care for it and sold the barrel. The POI ended up off a little. I say if it is a gun you really like and has any value get another barrel for it and if you can't do that get another gun.

You can always check with a reputaqble gunsmith to see what the costs are and see even it is possible with you gun. And then assess what is best for your situation.
