It's not ideal, but it'll work. It will obviously be louder and have more recoil the what most use to shoot yotes, but it's really up to you. The hard part will be finding ammunition that will fragment instead of passing through and creating another hole. I'm not aware of any myself. .30-06 is a lot bigger than is traditionally used on coyotes, so they don't really make rounds geared towards it in that caliber. If it's what you have available though, and what you want to use, it'll kill 'em if you hit 'em right.

You could use FMJ bullets and they wont expand at all. They are typically around 150-155 gr, and shoot great in most 06'....

If you aren't keeping the pelts then don't worry about it. If you want to keep them try reloading some 110 grain TNT's or something like that, or if it's legal in your state use FMJs.

If you handload there are 2 110 grain bullets available for varmint hunting that I'm aware of. Hornady makes a 110 grain VMAX and Sierra makes a 110 grain HP varminter....I don't know if there are any factor loadings in these though.
