let some coots or whatever you can in there that way they stir up the water so it wont freeze up.
i have heard of people building an enclosure for an electric trolling motor and running it to keep the water moving. it is supposed to work quite well...not to mention it puts some motion on your dekes too. you might want to check the laws in your state before employing this method though. you might run into some trouble.
We have the same challenge and no answers. When I lived in AZ, we had a solar cover that helped warm the pool. I was thinking about trying it with in our puddle this year. We are in the woods and don't get high winds, so a decoy weight at each corner would probably keep it in place.

A used trollin' motor & a deep cycle battery.
Lots of antifreeze just kidding
That's environment friendly. lol
we sometimes use spruce bows in small peices . that keeps the hole open and if it does freeze there is only a thin layer of ice. try it , it might work for ya.
I have heard of a large black truck style tarp being used. Think the tarp absorbs and radiates heat. I know guys use trolling motors to keep their boat slips open all winter..
Dynamite(always keep a fish net handy you might catch a keeper)just kidding!!!!!!!!!
