If you are looking for a top quality retriever take a look at this breeding. "Chop" is my female her 5th generation pedigree has 41 Field Champions. Her littler sister "Dora" is the #2 Derby dog and top derby female in 2005, she is Qualified All-Age and on her way to Field Champion. Her sire Riparian Windfall (the pup's grandsire) is now a Field Champion- he is a beautiful yellow lab. The stud dog is son of the famous and most productive retriever is history 2X NAFC 2X NCAFC FC AFC Ebonstar Lean Mac he has 25 Field Champions in his 5th generation pedigree.

I am not professional breeder- this is actually my first litter and most likely the last with my female. Here is my offer- all pups come with shots, worming and dewclaws removed, they have already been to the vet twice and will go another couple of times before I release any. They will be socialized as you see they get lots of attention earlier on in the Fremd household. They got their first introduction to a rooster pheasant at 3 weeks of age- they they will have exposure to birds and will likely be retrieving a wing down the hall by the time they are 6 weeks...They were born on April 19. The pups will come with a 3 year "Genetic Gurantee" any genetic illness which results in permanent disability will be refunded in full out to 36 months based on our local Veterinarian "The Country Vet" assessment. The pups will remain part of the family and will receive at least 10+ free training hen pheasants per year based on the season. The Fremd family breeds what we like to call "Wild Pheasants" - the best pen raised pheasants that you will swear are "just like wild". We run a small operation of only ~1200 birds per year. The last element to the offer is dog training- I am an amature dog trainer- I trained my first Black Lab to the AKC Master Level with the help of a protrainer on occasion. So any training question you have I will try to help and if not I have a pro trainer who I can follow up with. Oh I almost forgot- I want the pups to have a microchip so if they ever get lost they can always call the Fremd ranch and get relocated with their owner. So the pups will come with a microchip.

The final question is how much will they cost? All we have is 5 pups- 2 yellow males, 2 black females and 1 black male. We are asking $1500 for the yellows males or black females and $1200 for the black male. Remember the cost of the puppy is the smallest cost of caring for a member of the family for the next 10+ years. A deposit of $500 will hold your pick.

I want these dogs to go to hunting families that will run either hunt tests or field trials plus hunt them during the season. I think this litter has excellent potential.

Please PM me if interested or if you have any questions.

Eric Fremd

The Fremd ranch is in Yuba City and as you can see the puppies are in the house and already members of the family.

This post was suppose to go into the "For Sale" Sticky... So Please forgive me.

A little note about my female and the stud dog.

I bought "Chop" from my professional dog trainer- my Black Lab went down 2 years ago with a blown ACL then he got sick and had a gall bladder infection that nearly killed him. We needed a back up so I bought "Chop"- she was trained in Canada for field trials- we learned quickly that she just did not have the early puppyhood hunting training- I really could not find a drop in replacement for a AKC Master Level dog with 9 years experience- that is what I wanted but I could not find it. We have worked with Chop teaching her the hunting game- she is a champ on pheasants and she is now excelling around the duck blind. I have never owned a dog who just wanted to please- she tries so hard to always do the right thing! I think last year she impressed everyone on the pond- we were hunting Gray Lodge and like always we had neighbors- I let a couple spoonies suck over us as they were heading towards their spread- they shot 6 or 7 times and only managed to sail the drake our direction the hen came with it so I rolled it at about 55 yards with one shot- I love Blackcloud- well Chop was turned around in the blind and did not see any of the action- the drake hit the water and started to swim I sent Chop on the blind retrieve for my bird first which sailed with the wind out about 100 yards on the other side of some weeds- a couple of quick casts from the blind and she made quick work- I had her bring it back since she does not know the "drop" command- then I sent her for the cripple- by this time the guys had started to chase the bird but it had a huge head start I yelled over to the guy to save his energy I will send my dog- so from the blind I sent her on another blind retrieve handling and casting her out beyond 250 yards she performed exceptionally and our neighbors were amazed. My trainer says Chop can easily do 300-400 yard blind retrieves. I really have not spent much time working with Chop on the retriever games. I have just had her out hunting, dove, pheasants, ducks and geese. She has the best blind manners of any dog that I have ever hunted over. This year after she recovers from the puppies she will start her AKC Master Level testing. I really want her to get her Master Title- since I never finished my old Black Lab- he got one ribbon then I stopped running him.

I can't say a lot about the stud dog. I was looking for a stud at the last minute when I found out my old Black Lab had no swimmers. The Vet Clinic recommend him and the pedigree was exceptional. I spoke with the owner and as it turns out Buck was suppose to run field trials- he was ready to run derby and the owner had a serious medical set back that kept him from running his dog in field trial competition. Instead Buck has spent his days as a hunting dog around the Butte Sink. His sire the Grandsire is certainly the best producing dog in history with the most Field Champions of any stud dog in history. So the pedigree is exceptional. I need to get more pictures of him- he looks like his sire Ebonstar Lean Mac.

Here are some more pictures of the puppies at 3 weeks...

Just trying to embed a slide show...can someone show me how to do this or will it only work with youtube videos...This is such a cool function I will have to buy a video camera and start taking hunting videos this next season...

It looks like if you click on the photo it will launch a slide show in a new browser window...

Yes you can...but I have not seen to many around here- most are back East...Part of the problem was we had a difficult pregenancy- we had to go for an emergency "C" section which really drove up the cost for me...then we wound up with only 5 pups...needless to say if I sell two pups I just break even...The pedigree on my female "Chop" has 41 Field Champions in 5 generations- her full little sister is running Field Trials and she just threw a litter with an NFC- all the pups sold to only Field Trial families for $2500 each. "Chop" is a highly trained dog- she is trained and ready to run at the AKC Master Level- I will get her a title this next year. As far as the sire goes- I was planning to breed to my own stud dog for personal reasons- but I found out he had no swimmers the day Chop needed to breed- so I found a stud dog with the best pedigree possible (much better than my dog)- The Son of Ebonstar Leon Mac 2XNAFC, 2XCNAFC, FC although this sire does not have an FC he certainly has the genes- he has been a working dog in the duck blinds his whole life. So these dogs should be great for hunting, running AKC hunt tests and be good prospects for Field Trials. I have increased the warranty for these dogs from the typical 26 months to 36 months for any genetic issue that results in disability- I don't think there will be an issue- this is a solid breeding without line breeding, plus if you are in the area I will give you $200 of training birds (hen pheasants) per year based on seasonal availability. So that is as good as deal as I can offer...

Thanks for taking a look at the pictures...

Thank you to the person who PM'd me and said what about health certificates? Of course the most important part- the Dam "Chop" is OFA43G which is good, her CERF is clear, she is not tested for CNM. The sire "Buck" is a 10 year old dog in very good health, he is PENN HIP #843688 >90% which is excellent, not tested for CERF and not tested for CNM. I will go ahead and get the pups tested for CNM on their next check up with the Vet. It will take awhile to get the results back. I had asked the owner of the sire to get him CERF tested but that has not happened. I really don't think these pups are at risk for any genetic health issues. I will stand behind it with a written warranty that is longer than the typical 26 month warranty. The written warranty I will give is 36 months for any genetic issue which results in disability. This is a full refund of your purchase price and not a substitute dog from a different litter. So the pups will come with declaws removed, wormed, shots, microchipped, CNM clearance, and Vet health clearance when released.

I am actually going to put at least two or three of the pups into a full time training program with my professional trainer. He is running a program outside of Houston Texas. I would like to put AKC Master Titles on them and sell them as fully trained hunting retrievers. Possibly select the best one to put into a Field Trial program.

Thanks Again,
Eric

Someone said the price was too high for these puppies so I just wanted to respond to that...I think for the genetic quality of the pedigree the price I am asking is still inline- My females full litter sister Dora was the high point derby female for 2005 and qualified at 20 months- she just threw a litter that sold for $2500 per puppy. My female "Chop" was purchased fully Field Trial trained for a considerable amount, as a pup she went for $2000. Her entire litter was sold to Field Trial homes. The stud dog "Buck" the son of 4X National Champion was purchased 10 years ago from a then NFC Ebonstar Lean Mac for $1200 as Maxx won more National titles his offspring went up in price. This is the closest you can get to the 4X National Champion in terms of genetics- the potential is great. The least expensive dog in this litter may actually be the best dog- only $1200 for the black male. The dogs are effectively FREE if you would like to come pheasant hunting with us every year. I will give you a $200+ hunt every year on our private licensed pheasant club for the life of the dog. This club is reserved for only family and friends so you would be on the invitation list. Or if you want to set up some dog training I will give you the birds for training a $200 value. Why do I want to do this? So I can stay in touch with the dog and the owners. Not many kennels are inviting you back for free pheasant hunting.

I am in the process of getting the litter CNM tested. However I checked the registry and found out that "Chop" is from a CNM cleared litter- both her mother and father are CNM clear- so she will be CNM clear. I will have her tested anyway so I can get her registerd on the CNM website. So none of the pups will suffer from CNM disability in this litter. I will still go ahead and get them all certified but it will take a few extra weeks.

This is an outstanding deal.

If I were in the position to take it, I would.

If you are an honest guy, and you seem to be, this is fantastic. The purchase price is the least expensive part of owning a dog.

Good luck with this.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the quote:
The purchase price is the least expensive part of owning a dog.
It really is- if you do it right you will spend A LOT MORE on training and vet bills plus all of your own time and energy. For my AKC Master Level dog I spent at least $5000 plus I did most of the training myself- I went to a pro for the difficult parts- force fetch and the water concepts since I did not have access to good technical ponds. This was the first retriever I trained- it takes a lot of work but the end result is well worth it. Your hunting buddies will become spoiled when hunting over a well trained dog. We learned the hard way- we kept waiting before starting another pup- they suddenly our 9 year old hunting buddy was out for the season. It was too late to start a new dog.

Just a quick puppy update- I got out the pheasant wing this weekend and gave the pups some play time- they were all over it. They are already very birdy to the pheasant- they got a big wiff of a rooster at age 3 weeks- the bird hit its head in the pen while we were catching to release them- so I thought it would be a good idea to give the pups something new to smell- they remember well and grabbed the wing and ran off with it- I would pick them up and pet them till they dropped in naturally on their own- this is a good way to tell if they will have a hard mouth- none of them did- they all eventually dropped it while I was petting them. I was doing the CNM paperwork this weekend- they will go to the Vet on Wednesday for worming, micro-chipping, and CNM testing- and found out I was wrong about their whelping date- they were born on 4/13/08 not on 4/20/08. The pups are at my parents ranch so I only get to see them on the weekends- they have full time care from my mom and dad. My cousins daughter and friends age 12 are coming over to play with them everyday. My niece is 3 so they get plenty of kid time and full time human interaction and petting. They are socializing well but I still need to work on potty training- I have been working on paper training on paper towels this weekend and making some progress. They got a kennel crate the size for a small dog to play with so each of them took turns going into the kennel. I bought them more play toys and nylabones for chewing but they would rather chew on me than anything else...They got some noise training- in our house we got lots of sounds- I banged some pots around when feeding them and for the most part they showed no signs of fear, the smoke alarm went off from my mothers cooking and I let it ring to observe the pups- the bold female came out to investigate- she was the one that was the first out the back door this weekend and down the 3 steps- she is very bold and outgoing- my hunting buddy has already purchased her. I still have a couple left since I need to send only 2 to my trainer. I like the little black male- he is acting dominate I am going to name him 'Boss', the second most outgoing is the larger yellow male- we call him "Cruiser" since he has always been on the "cruise", the smaller yellow is "Max" since that is the name of my old yellow and I think he fits the bill in his personality, and the other female is a real sweeitie- I would like to call her "Windy". I ran out of time to take pictures this weekend- so next weekend I will post more pictures and video and they should be ready to start play retrieving down the hall. They will go for their first round of shots next week.

That's a pretty good kicker. If I could, I'd take "Boss."

Yes effectively FREE... I just want to see how these dogs develop plus I am not a professional so I am just looking to break even and put out a few great dogs...You know how it is- you want to keep all of them- but it is best that they go to good hunting homes so they get the maximum number of retrieves..."Boss" is also the best deal in the litter only $1200...Because this is a family run operation- I have got my whole family helping me with this litter, plus all these pups are already a member of the family and are welcome back to the Fremd Ranch anytime...This includes any of our hunting trips- joining us out in the duck blind when we have an open hole, or at the refuge when we have a decient draw and the best I have'nt mentioned...It is the annual Dove Shoot & BBQ on Sept 1 & 2...So a $1200 or $1500 puppy is much more than just a good hunting dog- it is a standing invitation to bring your highly trained partner back to "the ranch" to show off your training and enjoy some hunting.

This year it is looking good for the dove shoot once again. Last year we had some incredible moments- waves of dove so fast we could not keep our guns loaded-FOR 10 MINUTES!... we had planted safflower that we disced in prior to the season open...this year we not only have wild safflower that we will mow- but we are putting in 15 acres of black oil sunflower! "BLACK OIL!" this is the magic stuff for doves- this is all for the doves and we will mow most of it prior to the season- it should be once again a banner shoot. We BBQ the dove for lunch along with Tri-Tip with plenty of ice cold beer. Then we do it again for dinner...

Plus- the annual pheasant hunt- this happens the Saturday after Thanksgiving- We typically plant 60-80 birds depending on the # of guns- hunt hard in our 120 acre private club most of the day...all the while the ladies are cooking ribs and chili- Cold beer is in the ice chest after the hunt, then go back to "the ranch" to clean birds and fill up on chili and ribs...

So when you purchase one of our pups you not only get invitations to these hunts, but you can come and pick up some birds for dog training or let us know and you can bring a group of your buddies to hunt our private pheasant club- the only requirement is you only use one of our pups as your sole hunting dog.

So here are a few more pictures of "Boss" from two weeks ago...I will take more this weekend. I just talked to the owner of the sire and the AKC registration papers are now on their way. He will also take his stud down for the eye exam CERF just so we have it for the future. The pups will be going to the Vet tomorrow for worming, micro-chipping and CNM swabbing. They go back to the Vet next week for their first series of shots...

The Pups are 7 weeks old tomorrow and getting ready to go home later this week- my dad is really attached and wanted them a few more days- I need to send two to my pro trainer so I only had three to sell- my hunting buddies wife fell in love with the little girl with the pink collar and bought her a few days ago. I needed to send a female and a yellow to my trainer- my brother last weekend did not admit to wanting a pup- but his 4 year old daughter who has been playing with them a few times a week went to him crying and are you going to "sell my dog"? Well that was it he snapped up the big yellow dog and told me flat out that one was sold...There is no better time to have a lab sleeping on your bed then at 4 years old. This is probably my last litter with my female since she had to have an emergency C-section...so I was thinking of keeping one...but if you twist my arm the only black male is still for sale or what I would rather think is adoption into a good hunting home. I know I am going to be busy helping train two dogs already. I had to move up my business trip in China since my wife and son were here and in the Eathquake zone in Sichuan province- I am very lucky they escaped wtihout harm. So I am writing this from China- I flew out last night. I will be here for 3 weeks- my hunting buddy will be working the pups on birds and play retrieving. He should take them down swimming in the rice field on a warm day. His wife was going to take more pictures of them and I will have to ask her to post them on my photobucket site...I almost forgot. GREAT NEWS- All PUPS ARE CNM CLEAR and on the white list. That is what I figured- but it was best to have them tested. I feel good about it. The plan for the 2 pups going to the trainer is to train them to MH level and sell them when they are 2 years old as fully finished gun dogs and my next goal is to get Chop her MH title and go to the 2009 Master Nationals...
