I am from New Jersey and I have been going up to my dad's family's cabin on the mountain for as long as I can remember. I believe that the spring that we visit is Lake Shaftsbury and I am wondering how the duck hunting there is. Some of you may remember "Doc Burnham" he ran a dentist office there for years. He is from Bennington but the cabin is in Shaftsbury. I have wanted to go up hunting for a long time but have never gotten the chance. Anyone with info would be great.
Doubt your going to put any numbers up there; but if you are looking for something quiet with a few opportunities to shoot here and there, I'm sure you have some success. Very nice area... enjoy.
It's one of the few roost areas around. Kind of ****ty to shoot the roost imho. All those birds go feed in nearby corn. Most will let you hunt if you simply ask
Good luck
