Does anyone know if the water level has dropped on Texoma? Scouted there on Oct 30, could back to my spots but it took a little time. Saw some flights on Gad's, but no mallards.
Lake Level is still up alot from last year. Hunted there opening morning and shot teal. Not alot of activity where i was, but people were shooting all around me.
Lake Texoma is about 3 feet below level. But the last rain we received filled up alot of the holes that I hunt in hickory creek area. I have scouted the last two weekends and I am going to go out this afternoon. I have seen alot of ducks on the lake. I think if you are going to hunt in the hickory area you will need a shallow running boat to get to the good spots. That is my personal option. I will be in that area Saturday morning.
The only way you can get into where the ducks are is by Air Boat. If you dont have one then you are pretty muck SOL. All the cattails and other junk will ruin even the best mud motar you may have.
Ya there is alot of shovlers. But if you get in the right spot and dont shoot the first thing that comes into the decoys you can shoot mallards out there. We have been out there the last two weekends and shot limits of mallards.
