Hunting a wheat field in the morning using layouts and have a problem. Field is very green and the layouts stick out with the current grass i have them covered in. Anyone have tips on concealing them or ideas on how to make this work? Any input would be appreciated, Thanks! :help:

Hunt the edge. We have RARELY put layouts in the middle and been successful. IF.....your wheat is thick and luscious then MAYBE you can string garland throughout your layouts and MAYBE pull it off. It's better with cloudy day so you minimize your shadow but best bet is to hunt the edge out of the wheat

I agree that clouds help but I have also slayed them in the middle of wheat fields may times but the key is you need a ton of decoys. I agree with you if only using a couple of dozen. I usually use about 14-15 dozen with a mix of shells and skinnys which allows you to hide the layout pretty well. The problem is you can hide one or two hunters, but if you bring a ton of buddies you will be out of luck from what I have found.

On a side note, it is no fun to put out that many decoys, especially by yourself. It takes me about an hour and 15 minutes.

Good lord. Hope you got to drive on the wheat or pull right by the fence line. I should of added we have experienced better luck resident hunting in the middle as opposed to the winter we get 90% lessers. It's hard to hide from 1000 eyes circling directly on top of you

We have been hunting the wheat all season, only used layouts once and we hid at the edge. we use lay out chairs with garland if the wheat is really think but lately it has been on the thin side. we got camo netting from academy. 150 ft. of garland and weaved it through it green side up. a yoga mat to lay on and use your blind bag as a pillow. we zip tied 1-2 shells to the netting and have worked great every time. i bought some of that Avery wheat blind material and that's just a waste really.

Yep, when I put them all out it is when I can drive on the wheat. The farmer is pretty awesome to let me since most do not.

This^^^

We went to Hobby Lobby and bought rolls of Christmas tree garland, wove it through the stubble straps in linear fashion to resemble the rows of wheat sprouts drilled into the field.
