Looking to buy my son a lefthand 20 gauge for his bday, but not finding many options. Would like to find a compact, but don't think that will happen. Bday isn't until 10/31, so have some time. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a lefty Tristar Viper G3 in 12g, it hasn’t missed a beat. The only complaint I have is lack of aftermarket accessories. Unfortunately, they don’t make it in 20g.
Yea, still an option. He's gonna be 8, so worried about recoil. Planning on auto and only letting him load one shell for couple years. Might look at 28 gauge O/U, but don't wanna pay that much for ammo.
There are more guns that have a reversible safety than ejection port on the dubiously correct side.
My experiences around numbers of youth make me like pumps and break actions. Even with one child I want it broken open between times if we're on the move. Being stationary is less a deal because you can keep an eye on just one kid if you're not moving around. I wouldn't consider an auto unless all use was stationary.
Mossberg sells a pump that is light and short enough that he'll be able to swing it from a proper weight forward stance. Light and short enough is around 5.5# and 24". You can find a single barrel in just about any configuration. I don't know of a LH O/U or SxS that is light and short enough.
Spend the rest of the budget on cases of 3/4oz lead loads for practice and light TSS loads for ducks. When you're looking at light TSS duck loads you may start thinking about a 28ga or .410 single barrel just for ducks which then leads back to whether you can afford plenty of 28ga practice loads.
