Are they worth the price to buy a half dozen??? I know that they help the birds see the spread from a ways off but I have heard that they can also be a turn off for birds once they close in on the spread and cause them to flare. Have any of you see this when you have added magnums to your spread? Thanks for the input.

from my experience, they don't flare from mags. i prefer life-size but that's just me. i have had several successful hunts with others that use mags for ducks and geese.

I use both life-size and magnum decoys in my spread. Never really had a problem with ducks flaring off the mags.

If you can affird it buy supermags. I sold all my standard and bought a few dozen more supermags. We seem to have the best luck running just supermags. Usually out decoy adjacent blinds. We also leave our decks out all season long so this might not be posssible if your throwin everyday.

i don't persoanlly use Mags..being that i carry dekes on my back alot i can't afford to give up the space to a mag size deke.

however, i have hunted with people that use them and have seen plenty of people hunting with them. if you can get some...do it. they work.

It kinda depends on if you hunt open water or not. I like to run All the mags and supermags we can find, then put a bunch of small decoys as fillers to get the ducks to land where you want.

On big water supermags are awesome.

I use all three size's it seem's to work fine for the water we hunt. Swamp hunter that had to be a chore picking up all them deke's, I know three dozen is enough for me. :laughing:

i didnt like the super mags tell i started using them. they work great.

It seem's to make a difference if you are using something that is different than other guy's spread. Like everyone else has standards out and you have super magnum's , or perhap's a motion, or confidence decoy. Got to mess around to see what them crazy quacker's want :getdown:

I've got about 30 mag's in my group. It can't hurt....figured it may get their attention from farther out and help my spread get noticed. Got them in two groups off Ebay, all used Mallards, I've got about $50. tied up in 30 mag's.
