Do you order your meds online for your dog or go through the vet? What is the best prices you have found and what products do you think work best. Ex: Advantage, K9advantix, Heartgard.
Im fully aware of all of this, I just wondering if and what products you use are bought online or at the vet,IBBoykin said:NO matter where you choose to buy your heartworm preventative, you must realize that it is a prescription medication. So contrary to what their misleading ads say, the prescriptions are never for more than 12 months at a time. A good vet will require you to come in annually for your vaccinations and at this time they will also do an annual heartworm test. Then you get your new perscription for the upcoming year.
Plus, if you are not on top of your dogs weight, you might be underdosing him/her. By doing this, you run the risk of still contracting the heartworms by not providing the dog with enough medications.
As to Flea and Tick preventative, stay away from the junk at Walmart or other places. Stick with the products sold by your vet, for no other reason than they work, but in order for them to work properly, you must religously apply them every 30 days. Remember, parasites do not hibernate, therefore fleas are around 12 months a year. I personally have used frontline since it has been on the market and I have 7 cats plus 4 dogs that are inside/outside dogs 2 are hunting dogs and I have never had found fleas on any of my pets, and the only ticks I found were dead ones. Frontline Works!!!!!
