Where's the ducks? I hunt the South-Central and I've seen very few ducks since opening day.
I talked to someone from COE and he said everything went south already. Right now they're getting the late migrators and snow geese coming through. He thought the migration occurred when we had the freeze up right after opening weekend.

I'm not saying he's right or an expert, but I'm dumb-founded at the lack of birds almost a month into the season.
Any of you northern guys seeing any ducks? Is the bulk still North?

I feel like most little brown ducks and divers are through already. With reports I am seeing from Arkansas and south of there confirms that. There are a ton of mallards still up north, but I think those are the "only leave when snow makes us" ducks. I think we will see some sort of migration a week from now with that bitter cold weather coming, but there is no "weather" with it. Just a big cold front. Here in the central zone it has been pretty dead since Veterans day. I did see some snows and specks migrating down the Illinois river on Tuesday afternoon. First time I have seen that all season.

Sounds like a good chunk of ducks did go through our area. Don't know how much you can believe these reports. Others from Carbondale say it's slow.

I haven't been out for couple weeks but everybody I've talked to says it's as bad as they've ever seen. Up and down the Illinois River.

Maybe get a little reverse migration to end the central zone out??? Got to be optomistic!

Just started seeing honkers here on Tuesday. Now big warm up will stop that in its tracks.
