Hey guys I was just wandering how many guys there are from Missouri up here. I figured everyone could put a post up of where in the state you are from, and maybe some other little pieces of info.

I live in the St. Charles. I have spent most of my life deer hunting, but in the past 3 years I have been expanding to try to accomadate everything. I'm going to be moving to Maryville, MO in the next year to go to school at Northwest MO State, and majoring in Wildlife Biology. Lots of good pheasant hunting up around there, so it should be fun.

Brad McDaniel, 34 years old, married, 1 son and 5 dogs and I graduated from MSSU in Joplin in 1999 with a degree in Criminal Law, also attended the LE academy at MSSU. I've either been in the miltary or law enforcement my entire adult life. Spent 10 years in the Marine Corps, enlisted my junior year of high school,SSGT. 1988-1998. Been ALL over the world and have lost friends in some really sh**ty places. I've hunted and fished my entire life, very comfortable snoopin and poopin in the woods and just really got into waterfowl about four years ago. It's one of those sports that if someone doesn't show you what to do, it's hard to get into to. A cop buddy of mine introduced me to it. He's now serving in Iraq, so pray for him, I would appreciate it.
So we have a LION, a Mule.. and a soon to be Griffin  on here.

My name is Loren, 28, live in Fulton. Married, 2 kids, 2 and 5. Been hunting since I was 11 and tagging along since I can remember. Waterfowl is my favorite, but I go for deer, varmints, turkey and about anything else. Goose hunting is probably my favorite, but like duck hunting almost as much.

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. I enjoy talking with other duck hunters and getting new ideas and info.

I'm from Nevada, MO. I lived in Columbia for several years. I hunted Eagle Bluffs a lot. I am married to a veterinarian. I'm obsessed with duck hunting. I get the most enjoyment from watching my dog do what she loves to do. I also hunt deer, quail (where available) and dove. I love fly-fishing and I play golf.

I mostly hunt Four Rivers just because there are so many ducks and a lot of flooded acres. When it freezes over I have really good luck on the Osage arm of Truman Lake. I occasionaly hunt Bob Brown and Nodaway early in the season. I hunt about half and half between the open area and the draw. Most days I will hunt both. I hunt out of 16' john boat with a 15 hrs. merc outboard motor. I use the Cabela's Northern Flight Boat Blind.

I'm already pumped about next fall.

I'm also looking for a new shotgun for duck/dove hunting. Thinking about a Stoeger. I use an 870 Express Mag. (only 3") now and I don't plan on getting rid of it. I just want an auto-loader to take to the marsh. The 870 will always go as a back up. Feel free to post some ideas about a good duck gun.

Hey HuntMQ1,

How does your 935 fair with light loads? I have heard that the 935 has trouble recycling 2 3/4 light loads. I'm looking for a gun to shoot at the very least 2 3/4, 1 1/8 load, 3 dram which really are not considered "light loads."

Regards,
Michael

Joplin is a great town. Lived there for 6 years. JPD busted more than one of my "social gatherings." :salude:

I've never shot any 2 3/4 shells in it yet. It's fairly new. I've been told and heard that AFTER breakin of the 935 there has been no problems with the cycling of the smaller shells. I have heard that NEW 935's have had some problems with the cycling of 2 3/4's. As for the overall on the Mossy 935, LOVE it. Can't wait for the ducks. I'm pretty biased to Mossberg though. I own 5. I use Mossy's for play and work. As for the Joplin area, it's ok I guess. Not alot to do, buts it's getting much better. There is construction of new stores and restaurants everywhere you look. I was raised in Carl Junction.

:welcome: Kyle,
Glad to have another MO hunter here. I know what you mean by becoming addicted. A buddy introduced me back in college, now my wife hates him... Not really...

You're not far from Grand Pass. Probably the states best puplic waterfowl hunting area. That translates to a lot of hunters as well. If you don't know about the reservation system at the managed wetlands like Grand Pass, look into it on the net at missouriconservation.com and go to waterfowl hunting. It explains it pretty well there. That's really the only way to get a "draw" at Grand Pass. But your chances are much better on a week day.

If you have any question I'll be happy to help.

I think the Stoeger is a fine gun. I am going to go with a Benelli SBE II, I think. I'm wanting to shoot 3.5" for those days I might do some goose hunting or something like that, plus I want to be able to use it for dove hunting as well.
