my jon boat has a 10hp honda on it and it moves it along real good. but it depends on your boat. mine is a flat bottum, i'd say go wiht a flat bottum too, becuase i think that a v hull would go slower. but my 10 pushes mine along real good. but if i were to do it again, i would get a 15 hp.
Motor question?
I'm looking to get a 14' john boat, and was wondering if a 9.9hp is to small. I want to get something that will push 13 or 14 mph with me a dog and some decoys. Theres a big difference in cost for a 9.9 vs a 15 so yalls thoughts are appreciated.Thanks

the manual of the boat will tell you the recomended max horse power you can use. I'd say do with that
