Just a reminder to those that are out on the salt chasing stripers and whatnot.......Maine will not have a saltwater license in 2010....However, there is a registry through NOAA.....it is free if you enroll in 2010, but will cost to enroll if you wait until 2011. Just go to the NOAA site and click accordingly.....it took a few minutes at most....you'll get a temporary certificate to print with a permanent card to be sent w/in 30 days of your registration.

I love the politics of this country... please sense my sarcasm. :lame: Why don't they just say it like it is...saltwater fishing license. The feds could really rake in the cash if they just required a separeate license for every individual lake, pond, river, and stream.

rumor around town was you were going to have to have a salt water permit for smelt fishing!
Daffy,

That's correct - there's almost zero chance of getting in trouble for it, since there's no enforcement at the moment, but if you're fishing for sea run smelts then you need to be registered as of 1/1/10.

As I understand it-this summer if I want to go out for stripers with my son in Connecticut waters in his 14'aluminum - I will have to lay out $60 for a non-resident saltwater lic.-if I went out on a charter boat - I woudnt need a license

If States don't honor other States licenses -the way I read it - you will need a license for each State. If you have a Federal salt license-???

I hope they get this ironed out in a fair way
