Has anyone used a neoprene dog vest? Are they practicle or just a joke? I would like some input on this subject. I am thinking of buying one if they are worth it. Thanks, and good luck hunting.

I do some duck hunting with a brittany, and I rarely send him out without a vest on. In cold weather it does help keep them warmer. He doesn't think we are hunting if he doesn't have his vest on.

I use one for my yellow lab when it gets below freezing. The cold here in AR doesn't really affect her, but she's an inside dog and I'd rather be safe than sorry. They work so well that I actually use her as a hand warmer even after she's been wet. It feel like it is 100 degrees inside the vest and on those really cold days she looks like her vest is on fire because of all of the smoke coming out!

Not to mention the fact that if you get one with a reinforced chest, it offers added protection.

Get a vest. Your partner will thank you for it. Not only does it keep them warm, it gives them some flotation for a hard day in the field. My personal favorite is the Browning Duck Commander series. Only one I've seen that fits like it does and plus its 6mm. for added warmth and protection.

Has anyone tried the cabelas vest? I got a sportsmans warehouse special and it does not fit my dog verywell. Maybe I will try the browning one...

98ramtough you may have to talk to your Browning dealer to get the Browning vest, but it is the best vest on the market today. You know Uncle Phil wouldn't put his name on it if it wasn't.

Can your dog still jump and run normal? My chessie does not like it at all. I think he is happier shaking and being cold. (Or I just have to find him a better fitting vest).

It took her about five minutes to get use to it. After that there were no problems. Most people get there vest to big and it hinders the dog. You want it to fit snug.

Like I said, The Browning in my opinion is "the best there is". It's shaped like a dogs body and fits like a glove when zipped. It looks like there wearing a surfers body suit.

Thanks Big, I will try one! Its funny though, the one I have fits the lab just fine, but not the chessie, they are exactly the same size, just not built the same.
