I'd think about a gsp or a wirehair, I don't think they shed too much, maybe you can find a good hybred like a poodlepointer or something like that for cheaper though, a shorthaired bird dog mixed with a lab, you see them all the time for cheap or free. labs are not the greatest dog's ever, by far, they are the most overbred dogs ever. everybody I know has a lab and when we go hunting we always take my chessy. not their labs.
