I recently got granted permission to utilize a pond on family land for duck hunting. My in-laws have had the property for generations and they all hunt whitetail exclusively, so I’ve got the ducks to myself. Just have to do a little bit of coordination to keep everyone happy.

I want to plant some food at my little oasis this summer to help draw more birds in the fall, but I have no way of controlling the pond elevation. We are in Texas, so you take the moisture that you can get and you are happy with it.

Are there any good aquatic plant species that I can introduce to the pond itself instead of a millet that has to be planted then flooded? I don’t want it to overtake the pond completely because everyone likes to bass fish during the warmer months.

Gotta keep everyone happy. Please help a fellow duck hunter out!
