Can someone tell me the rules for hunting lake Norman(if you can even still hunt it?), like distance from houses, where I can setup my boat etc. Or a game warden or someone to contact. Any help is appreciated.

Might wanna avoid the Mtn Island Lake part - there is a refuge there, and boundaries are not well marked.

Some lower parts of Norman, I think there is a distance rule from dwellings (not sure what it is).

Northern sections (Moresville, Cornelius), be careful (stay away from houses)- that is where all the stink was about the new laws trying to be introduced. Thom Tillis & Mayor Jeff Tarte - real crackerheads.

Other than that - stay away from houses, and don't get on shore (boat blind, float hunt, or find an island).

I have a hard time believing that any ducks (besides grebes and coots) still get shot on a NC piedmont public lake...if so, that gives hope to most every duck hunter out there.

Don't quote me, but I believe Mecklenburg County has a 500 foot distance from an occupied dwelling ordinance. I think the surrounding counties are less restrictive. My personal policy is to never set up closer than 400 yards from a house. Any closer and some 911 calls and another news story are likely to happen. Even if currently legal if the politicians get enough complaints about people hunting the bare minimum distance we are likely to lose hunting on the lake.

Lake Norman is a pretty challenging place to hunt successfully. If I didn't live on the lake I wouldn't bother hunting it. PM me if you'd like more specifics.
