From someone who doesn't know much of anything about the hunting in Nebraska, I was wondering If you guys could tell me if there is decent public land hunting opportunities to be had around the Sioux county area? (Or within reasonable driving distance). Duck hunting, deer, turkey, elk etc but mainly duck. Was looking into maybe taking a couple jobs in diff areas of the country and love to hunt. Currently live in a section of LA where there is lots of ducks, not many public places to hunt, no other types of hunting, and way too many duck hunters! Not looking for spots just like "the north part of the state sucks, no birds vs the southern counties etc" :) Thanks guys

I can't say I've hunted out there yet, but the western half of the state is definitely your best bet for public land. There's nothing on this side of the state. Game and Parks has an online atlas at http://outdoornebraska.gov/wheretohunt/

If what I've heard is correct, your big game and turkey(Merriams) hunting is going to be more prevelant but the duck zones out there are a couple weeks longer into Jan than we have on this side too.
