Well, after looking at several set of boat plans, was gonna build one, my wife finally told me to just buy a boat, with in reason. I'm going to get the Otter 2000 with the crawdad mudmotor. Spoke with Shane from Crawdad last night and a really nice person to deal with.

I want to add some fog lights to the front but don't know if this will work. Has anyone done tried this with the Otter series of boats and if so how did it work out and did you like it.

Thanks in advance,

Chance

Its always good when the wife says: "buy." I hear the otter boats are very stable. Doesn't crawdad motors have a video of them using one of their motors on an Otter? You could make a pretty bad ass boat for a fraction of what that combination would cost. I probably spent $275 in three months as I slowly built mine. I could have easily finished it in about 2 weeks but things came up.

Now that i've built one I'll probably never buy one because I've really enjoyed building mine. Besides, isn't the season close to over now? You may have some time on your hands. I don't know if I could wait 9 months to use a brand new duck set up for the first time.

I'm not going to wait 9 months, as I'll be fishing in it all summer. I was going to build one, but with the materials that I was going to use I would have had close the price of the Otter in the materials. Okuome(SP?) is pretty expensive and the epoxy isn't cheap either.

With 4 kids my time is limited as it is so building could probably take me 9 months

BTW, that is one sweet rig you put together.

Take Care,
